behind-the-scenes: matchbooks

hello again, typeliters! today, a look behind our custom matchbooks.

at events, lots of people ask for our business cards and we simply hand them one of these matchbooks. they have all of our information on them and they’re pretty handy for candle-lighting as well! we put these matchbooks together ourselves and with the help of any one who takes our food bribes. :) our matchbooks feature our original photography on the outside and a surprise inside. we love to keep the mystery to ourselves and hope that everyone can enjoy a surprise later. of course, it does keep us wondering what reactions we would get if we saw them in person, but we do happen upon a curious being who opens them right there and it’s such a fun reaction.

if you see us at an event or stop by one of our awesome retailers, you can pick up a matchbook or few to see what we’re talking about.

love the type, of course, and who could resist these bags?!

Owner Alvaro Romero told us, “Art bears a heavy influence on everything we do. Luckily, the creative community is alive and thriving in Fresno and has been incredibly supportive of our efforts, we work with local artists every chance we get. The talent pool in Fresno is deeper than most  Californians realize and we’re working with emerging artists to prove that.”

behind-the-scenes: quote tags & charms

Today, a peek at our quote tags and charms. These are many times an afterthought of our candles as most people see them last, but we have also created custom tags for special occasions (like here, here, and here). quotes_charms_v2

At shows, we allow our patrons to swap these and our custom lids to create the perfectly customized candle. Our charms vary from birds to bikes to clovers and lanterns and are all randomly paired with our recycled kraft paper quote tags.

Where do we get our quotes from? Everywhere and anywhere. The quotes are rotated every season and we’re due for an update of new quotes soon, do you have any favorites to add to the pool? we’d love some suggestions!
